In particular, this applies to any school students, children and vulnerable people who may be at the conference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Commitment to Safeguarding<\/strong><br>The Board of the Edmund Rice Justice &amp; Networking Trust, as part of their endorsement review as an Edmund Rice entity by the Christian Brothers Oceania Province, agreed to follow the following safeguarding policy and code of conduct. To read them, click on these links. <strong><a class=\"maxbutton-58 maxbutton maxbutton-op-safeguarding-policy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.edmundrice.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/OP1.5ChildProtectionVulnerableAdultsPolicy-copy.pdf\"><span class='mb-text'>Province Safeguarding Policy<\/span><\/a><\/strong>  <strong><a class=\"maxbutton-57 maxbutton maxbutton-op-code-of-conduct\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.edmundrice.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/OP1.5aCodeofConduct.pdf\"><span class='mb-text'>Province Code of Conduct<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As co-hosts of the conference, both the Justice Trust and St Kevin&#8217;s College observe The Catholic Church <em>Safeguarding <\/em>and <em>Code of Conduct <\/em>Policies and the obligations of New Zealand law. <br><strong><a class=\"maxbutton-54 maxbutton maxbutton-nz-safeguarding-policy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.edmundrice.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/NZ-Safeguarding-Policy.pdf\"><span class='mb-text'>NZ Safeguarding Policy<\/span><\/a><\/strong> <strong><a class=\"maxbutton-55 maxbutton maxbutton-nz-code-of-conduct\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.edmundrice.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/NZ-Code-of-Conduct-March-2021.pdf\"><span class='mb-text'>NZ Code of Conduct<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure all attendees&#8217; well-being and safety while at the conference, the following understandings, practices, and protocols will be promoted and adhered to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><strong><a class=\"maxbutton-7 maxbutton maxbutton-conference-home\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.edmundrice.org.nz\/?page_id=2085\"><span class='mb-text'>Back<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Responsibilities during the Conference<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>St Kevin\u2019s and The Edmund Rice Justice Trust are co-hosting the Conference.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>St Kevin\u2019s College<\/strong> is responsible for the facilities (hostel and conference venue), the catering, cleaning and maintenance staff, security, and all <strong>Occupational Health and Safety<\/strong> requirements on this site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Edmund Rice Justice Trust<\/strong> <strong>(The Trust)<\/strong> is responsible for the organisation and administration of the conference (including the programme, the speakers, the registration of participants etc) in consultation with St Kevin\u2019s College.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Liston, St Peter\u2019s, St Thomas\u2019s of Canterbury, St Kevin\u2019s and Trinity<\/strong> <strong>Colleges<\/strong> are each responsible for the supervision and care of their students from the time they leave their respective cities, time at conference, and return home. Travel, attendance, and Risk Management have been approved by their Boards and their principals are all attending the conference.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Edmund Rice Justice Trust, Edmund Rice Camps Auckland, and Edmund Rice Camps Dunedin<\/strong> are each responsible for the care and supervision of their people while they attend the conference.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Oceania Province which includes the Christian Brothers<\/strong> is responsble for its employees and Brothers during their travel and while attending the conference.<br><br><strong>Requirements for all adults staying in the St Kevin&#8217;s hostels overnight<\/strong><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Police Checks<\/strong> &#8211; As there are secondary school students also attending the conference and staying on site, all adults staying in a hostel require a current police check. For Australian attendees, a copy of their Australian police check will be held by the organising committee. In the case of school teachers, having New Zealand Teacher Council registration and a current practising certificate suffices as that process includes a police vetting. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For those staying on site, genders will stay on different sites and the dorm buildings will be allotted as Hostel 1. Adult Males only, Hostel 2. Adult Females only, Hostel 3 Male school students, Hostel Trinity College female students; Hostel 5. Edmund Rice Camp adult hostel (one wing male, other female).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hostels accommodation includes provided sheets, pillowcases and thin duvets. Bringing a sleeping bag for additional warmth is encouraged.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The hostels will be alarmed and locked overnight. CCTV is recording in common spaces<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><strong><strong><a class=\"maxbutton-7 maxbutton maxbutton-conference-home\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.edmundrice.org.nz\/?page_id=2085\"><span class='mb-text'>Back<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Occupational Health &amp; Safety Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A<\/strong>ll Occupational Health &amp; Safety and Safeguarding requirements will be endorsed and authorised by St Kevin\u2019s College Board and the Edmund Rice Justice Trust Board.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is a detailed separate document outlining the above requirements of all participants circulated for signing and returning to the Organising Committee before the Conference.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>RAM\u2019s<\/strong> documents for each College and Entity to include commitment to St Kevin\u2019s College and Hostel requirements (as explained by James Devereaux St Kevin&#8217;s College Assistant Principal), the vehicle trip to and from Moeraki and dinner at Whitestone Restaurant will be lodged with the organising committee before the Conference to ensure compliance with requirements for the good of all participants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All Fire, Flood, Lockdown and Safeguarding requirements will be compliant with the policies, procedures and guidelines of St Kevin\u2019s College.<br>High Visibility Vests for health and safety wardens will be available and worn in case of an emergency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>St Kevin\u2019s College Hostel Emergency Evacuation Procedures \u2013 <strong><a class=\"maxbutton-59 maxbutton maxbutton-skc-hostel-evacuation\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.edmundrice.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/SKC-Hostel-Evacuation-Procedures.pdf\"><span class='mb-text'>Hostel Evacuation Plan<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A list of contact phone numbers for assistance will be provided and Bernie Lee will be the first aid  person at the conference.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mobility Assistance<\/strong> &#8211;  Please note regrettably some paths and steps are steep \u2013 not conducive to wheelchairs. Access at the conference venue will need to be via the college road.
