Since 1976, there has been a New Zealand Christian Brothers community in Rarotonga.

The school associated with the Christian Brothers is Nukutere College. The current principal of Nukutere College is Br. Frank Perkins.

Students from Nukutere have previously participated in the ER Student Leadership Programme and are invited to do so each year.

The Cook Islands is also a placement destination for ER Volunteers- Currently ER Volunteer Nina Crawford is volunteering as a teacher's aide and will continue to do so until the end of the year.
